Introduction
Ownership of the Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology (JGH) is the dual responsibility of the Publisher (Blackwell Publishing Asia) and the JGH Foundation. JGH differs in this respect from national and specialty journals; it was founded by a publishing company but now shares joint ownership with a charitable Trust (the JGH Foundation) whose purpose is to improve practice standards, education and research in Gastroenterology in the Asia-Pacific Region.
The JGH Foundation hopes that the infusion of much needed capital for the development of gastroenterology in the Asia-Pacific Region will ensure a decade of an unprecedented growth and improvement in the specialty.
Mission
To foster research, education and training in gastroenterology and hepatology within the Asia Pacific Region so as to enhance the quality of medical practice and the health of the communities concerned.
