S.K. LAM Young Investigator Award (YIA)

Professor Shiu-Kum (S.K.) Lam

Professor Shiu-Kum Lam was one of the four founding Editors of the Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology (JGH), as well as an original member of the JGH Foundation.

Some of the many other important positions he held in medicine and gastroenterology in the Asia-Pacific region include Professor of Medicine then Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at The University of Hong Kong, Presidency of the Asia-Pacific Association of Gastroenterology during a period of active reform, and an architect of regional cooperation in gastroenterology through the inauguration of Asia-Pacific Digestive Week.

Professor Lam has always had a great interest in nurturing the careers of young gastroenterologists and gastrointestinal scientists throughout the region.

Thus this Young Investigator Award of the JGH Foundation, which is to be presented each year for the best scientific paper by a young gastroenterologist or scientist at the annual Asia-Pacific Digestive Week meeting, is a fitting tribute.

Purpose

The purpose of the S.K. LAM Young Investigator Award (YIA) is to stimulate interest in research training by rewarding outstanding examples of excellence amongst those involved in research training in the early stages of their career (up to five (5) years following the completion of training in gastroenterology/hepatology ).

The Award will be made at Asia Pacific Digestive Week (APDW).
